Palo Alto Nightlife Exists But Is Mostly a Dinner Drink
Palo Alto is a dinner town. The city's nightlife is essentially the bar portion of the restaurant scene — Oren's Hummus, Evvia's bar, Nola's courtyard — and it runs until around 11 PM on weekdays and midnight on weekends. University Avenue and California Avenue are the two strips that hold it.
For a proper later night, you're driving north to Mountain View, Redwood City, or San Francisco. The Rose & Crown on University is the closest thing to a late pub, and it still closes at midnight.
Stanford's academic rhythm shapes the town — graduate students and tech workers, not bar-hopping crowds. The lights come back on early the next morning.
